[News] Clarifications on Rumor of CL’s Solo Debut (January 29, 2011)

Thanks to @pepperxmint (aka Julie), who contacted the original author about CL’s rumor solo at kpopfrance.com. We now have some clarifications regarding this issue. As explained bellow, it is unclear as to the nature of this possible solo debut, when, where, and in what manners. It was merely a discussion. Since we have no idea who the source is to determine the reliability of the information. But if this is true, I’m very happy that at least YG is thinking about this, and talking, planning for CL’s solo debut, which probably won’t happen this year anyway. Just like Big Bang, this is in no way means the end of 2NE1. Bom went solo, and so did Dara, and the group is still stronger than ever. This is just an indication that YG respects and promotes his artist individual creativity and want them to have a chance to express it.

It is a little complicated to reveal exactly who is the person who give us the information, all I can say is that this person has no interest in spreading a false rumor. He works for YG in Europe and he’s not young, but he has NOTHING to do with CL or 2NE1 directly. I don’t know a lot more about this, but I can assure you he is a person you can trust.

What he said to me is simple, we were having a conversation about different things that have nothing to do with Kpop, and then, I mentioned the fact that CL was in Paris, and I didn’t ask anything but he confirmed she was there to meet with music producer and discuss of an eventual solo. This is everything I know, he probably knows a lot more but you understand I can’t directly ask him.
This is why, in our article, we open a discussion about it with “a song for Europe?” or “CL will work with European producers?” or “A M/V in Paris?”… for example, these are all suppositions of course.

I hope this e-mail helped you. We have seen a lot of reactions on twitter with people saying “CL will have a solo for the European market!” when in fact, in our article, it was just to open a discussion since we don’t know a lot of things about the subject except CL was in Paris to discuss about an eventual solo, nothing more.

  3. i love CL. she’s just amazing. i hope it’s true. and i hope fans who have other bias will be open to it. im actually Dara biased ^^ but i believe in CL capability. im sure she wants to do more music… expand her horizons…u know… and if there’s a really good opportunity, she should go for it.
    anyway, i hope YG is handling it well. make sure they decide what’s best for her and the group.

  7. when CL has her solo, she will kill it. I think she will have a successful solo and hope she will do well. But i don’t want her to rush neither, so she can take her time and come out with something amazing 🙂
